Henk ten Voorde

Henk is a partner and civil law notary at Lustrous Law. Henk was born in Apeldoorn, the Netherlands and grew up in Goes, the Netherlands. He studied both Netherlands law (with private law as main subject) and Notarial Law at Leyden University. In addition, he studied at the Eberhard Karls Universität in Tübingen, Germany and participated in the Academy of American and International Law of the Southwestern Legal Foundation (currently: the Soutwestern Institute for Comparative and International Law of the Center for American and International Law) in Dallas, Texas.

As corporate lawyer and civil law notary he specializes in (cross-border) corporate law, international holding structures, M&A and private equity. In his practice, he focuses on the United States, Canada, Mexico, Germany, Belgium and Spain. In the Netherlands, he advises on governance issues within health care and cultural institutions. Quite frequently, he is asked to assist in large international finance transactions.

In 1991, Henk started to work at what is now Loyens & Loeff in Rotterdam as a deputy civil law notary. He almost exclusively worked within the corporate law department of that firm. Thereafter, he made a switch-over to Amsterdam, where he became a partner of a midsize firm of lawyers and civil law notaries. His appointment as a civil law notary by (at that time) the Queen and government of the Netherlands followed shortly. In 2010, Henk founded Lustrous Law together with Carole van Kesteren.

Henk obtained his Ph.D. at the Radboud University Nijmegen with a doctorate thesis on a Dutch and European corporate law issue, written in his spare time, which doctorate thesis was published by Kluwer Law. By that, he became one of the leading experts on dissolutions and liquidations in the Netherlands and is quite often advised by external professionals for high level matters. Furthermore, Henk publishes in some company law journals and teaches corporate law in postgraduate (CLE) courses on a regular basis.

Beside his job, he has held a number of positions in the social sphere. During the weekends, he is active as a licensed referee of the Royal Dutch Football Association (KNVB). Together with his children, he is the holder of season tickets of Feyenoord Rotterdam, but also enjoys classical (church)music, 20th century history and modern American literature.
